EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) is one of the most effective tools for resolving old trauma. It's effectiveness has been well documented over the last 30 years. Demi Wood is a Level II EMDR therapist who has been offering EMDR to Fort Collins and Loveland for the last 4 years. EMDR is a non verbal therapy that allows patient to rapidly process through unresolved issues and painful feelings from the past that are no longer relevant to their present lives but are still triggered by present day events or stresses. Once the trauma and painful issues are resolved through EMDR, while the memories remain, they no longer trigger powerful and painful feelings. This allows the patient to live more fully in the present and to have happier and "saner" relationships. One might think of it as a way of unloading your emotional "baggage". EMDR takes place in the context of the larger counseling relationship and can definitely produce faster results than traditional therapy.
